    Summary

    John Deere Foundation Grants support initiatives that create lasting impacts for communities and constituencies served by the requesting organization. The Foundation focuses on funding the following areas:

    • Solutions for World Hunger – Working to transform under-resourced agricultural communities in developing countries through distinctive and sustainable solutions for world hunger focused on farmer training, value-chain enhancement, and water access and use.
    • Education –  investing in projects that provide inspiring, rewarding, and innovative educational experiences for both youth and adults, particularly in John Deere home communities.
    • Community Development – Creating rich and diverse opportunities for community growth by supporting economic development, resiliency and safety programs, and community relations activities.

    At this time, funding for capital campaigns is not available. The Foundation does not donate John Deere equipment.

    Funds may not be used for:

    • Gifts, or portions thereof, to organizations that are not charitable or tax-deductible;
    • Gifts to organizations that could potentially violate restrictions on self-dealing between the John Deere Foundation and Deere & Company;
    • Initiatives for the benefit of an identifiable individual or family;
    • Political organizations or campaigns;
    • Religious organizations (churches, synagogues, mosques and other houses of worship), or other groups with solely religious missions;
    • Fraternities, sororities, and alumni groups;
    • Animal advocacy organizations;
    • Medical or health organizations engaged in controversial activities;
    • Gifts to organizations creating some personal benefit for the donor, including goods, services, or anything of financial value;
    • Private foundations and supporting organizations; or
    • Any other gift or organization that John Deere or the John Deere Foundation, in their sole discretion, consider non-compliant with the law, controversial, or otherwise incompatible with their philanthropic mission

  • Eligibility Details

    Eligible applicants are organizations that have a current IRS 501(c)(3) designation, particularly in one of the following areas:

    • Georgia – Atlanta, Augusta;
    • Illinois – Quad Cities;
    • Iowa – Des Moines, Dubuque;
      Quad Cities, Ottumwa, Waterloo;
    • Kansas – Coffeyville, Olathe;
    • Louisiana – Thibodaux;
    • Missouri – Springfield;
    • North Carolina – Cary, Fuquay-Varina;
    • North Dakota – Fargo, Valley City;
    • Tennessee – Greeneville; or
    • Wisconsin – Horicon, Madison

     

    Some key organizations from outside these communities may also be considered:

    • Accredited colleges and universities; and
    • Organizations focused on international development initiatives related to our Solutions for World Hunger initiative
