    The Hyde and Watson Foundation was incorporated on January 14, 1983, through the consolidation of The Lillia Babbitt Hyde Foundation and The John Jay and Eliza Jane Watson Foundation. The Hyde and Watson Foundation supports capital projects in the following areas:

    • Hard costs related to construction or purchase of new facilities;
    • Building renovations and improvements;
    • Purchase of capital equipment and furnishings; and
    • Other one-time capital needs.

    Funding for these projects can be for organizations in any of the following sectors:

    • Education
    • Social services
    • Arts
    • Health
    • Religion
    • Humanities

    Additional Information

    In general, the Foundation does not accept applications for endowment, operating support, benefit fundraisers, annual fund appeals, or from fiscal agents. Grants will not be made for leases or rentals of equipment, for subscription-based software, or any other recurring fees. Grants are not made to individuals, or for projects outside the United States of America.

  • Eligibility Details

    Nonprofit organizations located in the five boroughs of New York City, and Essex, Morris, and Union Counties in New Jersey.

    Deadline Details

    Applications are accepted online from December 15 to February 1, 2025 for consideration at the Spring meeting, and from June 15 to August 1, 2025 for the Fall meeting. If the 1st falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline will be the next business day. 


    Note: There is an ongoing review of proposals during the application period; because there is a finite amount of funds budgeted for each grant cycle, applicants are encouraged to submit their proposal early in the application period.
