The Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA), a federal program for libraries administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), requires a five-year plan from each state.

LSTA Grants to States is a population-based formula grant that provides funds to each state to improve library services.
Approximately $8,213,994 is available for NYS libraries under this program. Matching funds of 35% are required for all equipment and software of $5,000 or more.
