North Dakota's Career and Technical Education Grants for Innovation seek to provide new, innovative science, technology, engineering or innovation programs for students in kindergarten through grade twelve with preference given to projects involving robotics competition. Funds may be used for equipment, contest related consumables, travel, and registration fees. Awards are given in the form of unmatched Mini-Grants, K-12 Matching Grants for K-12 teachers and/or schools, and Post-Secondary Matching Grants for post-secondary institutions for the purpose of providing innovative STEM programs for K-12 students.

All applications will be reviewed to determine appropriateness, completeness and innovation. Applications will be reviews by the Grants for Innovation Committee and awards will be made on the merit of the application. Priority will be given to applications involving robotics competition and new applicants.
Funds may not be used for salaries or stipends to individuals, clothing or for purposes of supplanting state and local funds and thus cannot be used to fund existing state funded programs.
Elementary or secondary teachers or schools and institutions of higher education are eligible to apply to this program.
Applications were to be submitted by September 18, 2021. A similar deadline is anticipated annually.
A total of $60,000 was available in fiscal year 2022. Awards vary by program area.
