The Public School Classroom Support grant program provides grants to individual teachers or teams of teachers for the purpose of purchasing supplies, materials, or equipment for their classes.
Each year may specify "focal areas" to direct funding, such as Mathematics and English Learners in the 2019-2020 program year. All proposals during this funding priority should showcase how the requested funds will be utilized to improve student instruction for PreK-12 Mathematics and/or supports for English Learners.
None is available.
The following limitations may impact eligibility for some applicants:
Upon notification of the award, districts are allowed to purchase materials, supplies, and/or equipment outlined in the grant proposal and in accordance with the submitted budget. Once purchased, the awarding teacher's district will be expected to invoice the Oklahoma State Department of Education for reimbursement of expenditures. Further details about this process will be provided to recipients of the grant.
If a teacher applying for the individual teacher grant changes districts between the time of application and awarding of funds, administration at the new district will need to provide a signed letter of assurance that they will support the teacher's grant request.
Oklahoma Public School classroom teachers are eligible to apply.
Due to inclement weather across much of Oklahoma, the application deadline for the 2020-21 Public School Classroom Support grant was extended to November 6 at 5:00 p.m. A similar deadline is anticipated annually.
Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000. No matching is required.
